So I have tried for the past 4 months to find the right pattern for some yarn I received for Christmas last year and, for the most part, failed. I tried patterns for cardigans, sweaters, totes, and scarves. While I love the colors and even the switch between them this type of yarn is tricky.
Horizontal stripes are no one’s friend…
The super frustrating part was when I was working on a pattern for a tote bag and it was riddled with mistakes. I was able to work around most of them but when the length of the handles was wrong it was just one mistake too many and I ended up ripping it apart and searching for another pattern.
Which led me to infinity scarves. The first pattern I tried was another one riddled with mistakes – or maybe I just wasn’t skilled enough to make it right. Either way I just wasn’t happy with the results.
So I finally found this pattern, Autumn Leaves Infinity Scarf. It helped that the color they made it in is similar to the yarn I was using. I’m not sure why some pattern creators insist on using some of the most god awful colors to show off their patterns. And I have to say, so far, so good.
The pattern is easy to follow and remember and I don’t have to do hand gymnastics to get the gauge right. I’m still not sure if I will keep it for myself or give it as a gift at some point but either way I’m glad I finally found a pattern I enjoy making and will be happy with the end result.
