Live Your Life

img128I want so badly to write this post in all caps, but I know that it is bad form and almost impossible to read so I will keep my anger in check at least that much.

The United States and, dare I say, the world is going down the tubes so fast that it’s becoming almost impossible to stop the slide. I live in the U.S. so I will leave the rest of the world alone for now. But there’s a certain spread to stupidity so if you live in another country you may want to be on the lookout for it.

Many of you assume that I will be talking about recent changes put up for a vote in the U.S. government. The government is certainly screwed up and has been for quite some time, it’s certainly not unique to this current administration. But no, I want to talk about the citizens of this great country.

The citizens who have become too lazy to fend for themselves. Who have become too entitled to see that no one or government owes them a damn thing in this life. Who have become such complainers that they can no longer be grateful for what they do have. Who have become so unaware they can’t understand that most of their problems would be solved if they just took responsibility for their own lives.

The citizens now demand that the government takes care of them all the time. It’s not set up for that. It never was.

I don’t know if it’s naivety or stupidity to actually think that the government is run by people who care. Some do, probably, to some extent. Maybe. But damn, we all know that most are so money and power-hungry they really don’t care about the people they are supposed to represent. Not to the extent where they would affect real change. Not to the extent that they would do something that would make them different.

So why, why, for all that we hold dear do we insist on stamping our foot and crying ‘It’s not fair’ every time the government makes a move we don’t like.

*Time out*

For the record I’m not saying we shouldn’t stand up for our rights as citizens – when there is a case of gross negligence or wrongdoing.

Providing insurance for everyone is not that.

Forcing everyone to buy health insurance only helps the insurance companies.

Now there’s another group who is not in the business of helping its customers. Think about it. They are in the business to make money – just like every other business, it doesn’t make them evil. How can they make money when the only people who buy health insurance are the ones who need it?

So the insurance companies need the majority of their customers to be healthy in order to turn a profit. Hence the penalty for not signing up for insurance under Obamacare…

Is the new healthcare plan any better? Probably not, because for it to actually work for the majority – there’s always going to be someone who’s not happy – the government would actually have to put the citizens first. Not going to happen, at least not any time soon.

So why not take back our lives? Why not take back our freedom? Our happiness? Our responsibility?

Why do we insist on not being happy until everyone does exactly what we want, when we want?

When we can be happy now…

Be happy now. Say your piece, but then move on and live your life. The world didn’t end with the last administration and it won’t end with this one.

Live your life…
